From calcareous, loamy soils over limestone, with vines dating back to the 1930s through 1970s, the 2022 Schwemmer opens on a note of dried violet and dark hedgerow fruit, small-scale florals that sharpen the focus on what follows. On the palate, freshness arrives first, before the blueberry fruit and underlying density have a chance to announce themselves. There's something almost understated about how it all fits together: stone, dark fruit, and a clarity of line that feels earned rather than constructed. Taut structure and vivid acidity give it real aging potential. Drink 2025–2035.
