Kanonkop Wine Estate Paul Sauer 2022

The higher Cabernet Franc component is the story of the 2022 Paul Sauer, lifting the blend into something more aromatic and fine-boned than usual. Blueberry, black cherry, a breath of mint and a cedar undercurrent, the 24 months in new French oak leaves almost no fingerprints, the fruit doing all the talking. Medium-bodied and smooth, with pliant tannins and a succulence that carries through a controlled, well-sustained finish. Not the most powerful Paul Sauer in the cellar's history, but beautifully balanced and deeply satisfying. Superb.
