F.X. Pichler Riesling Klostersatz 2022

Pichler's only Riesling from flat valley ground, Danube gravel with barely any topsoil, too lean for Grüner Veltliner but apparently just right for this. The nose is vivid and perfumed: green Seville orange over ripe stone fruit, pushing toward apricot, with a floral lift that grabs your attention immediately. On the palate it's lighter and more open than that nose implies, juicy, fresh, and animated, with a kind of easy grace rather than weight or tension. Bone-dry and built for warm-weather drinking.
