F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg 2022

The Loibenberg's warm, south-facing slopes show clearly in the 2022, a rounder, more generous expression than many Wachau Grüners. The nose is reserved at first, offering ripe yellow pear and little else until it opens with time in the glass. On the tongue, there's a pleasing yeasty smoothness, medium-bodied and approachable, yet white pepper and a light herbal edge keep things honest. It tapers to a firm, dry finish, tighter than the mid-palate suggests.
