From the gravel soils of the Danube valley surrounding the winery, the sole valley site in the Pichler lineup to carry a named designation. There's an understated quality to the nose: creamy and savory rather than fruit-forward, with a distinctive note of sage folded into a yeasty, almost bread-dough character. On the palate, that yeastiness shifts toward something more umami-driven, miso, sea salt, a faint green herbaceousness, all carried on a lean, smooth frame. The finish is quietly satisfying, savory to the end. Bone-dry.
