Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Steinertal Smaragd 2022
Steinertal sits at the Wachau's eastern boundary, nudging up against Kremstal's Pfaffenberg, warmer terrain tempered by cold air funneling down through two gullies, producing a pronounced diurnal swing that keeps things precise. Fern, green pear skin and a light creaminess on the nose, with a faint saline undercurrent. On the palate, white pepper arrives immediately and stays, woven through a lean, stony frame that somehow manages both slenderness and real presence. The texture has a surf-over-rock quality: Grüner's natural richness washing across unyielding mineral structure rather than softening it. A bone-dry, composed wine with that haunting peppered finish that lingers well after the glass is empty.
Alzinger
→Alzinger is one of the Wachau's most quietly authoritative estates, producing Riesling and Grüner Veltliner from premier sites in Loiben and Dürnstein with a precision that rewards patience.
