Mullineux Chenin Blanc Iron 2021

From the Rondomskrik Vineyard, typically the earliest to ripen in the Mullineux stable, with lower alcohol reflecting the vineyard's particular fermentation behavior. Dried mango, pineapple, crushed stone and pear, the aromatics are the most forthcoming and expressive of the Iron series at this stage. On the palate it's balanced and clean, but falls a touch short of the complexity found in the Schist or Granite this vintage, trailing off slightly rather than building through the finish. A little more grip and texture would elevate it. Good, not great, a step behind its siblings in 2021.
