Not your typical Grüner. From 40–60-year-old vines on a cool limestone site in Sankt Georgen, the 2021 was partly whole-bunch-pressed and partly destemmed, then fermented in 500- and 600-liter oak barrels, an approach that shows in the texture. A faint earthy reduction on the nose gives way to ripe, clean pear and a soft stony quality. On the palate, a gentle phenolic grip and chalky weight carry flavors of very ripe pear, glowing stone fruit and yellow plum skin. Creamy and full yet precisely ripe, bone-dry, with nothing out of place.
