Four parcels on west-facing limestone, with vines ranging from the 1980s back to 1921. The nose is hauntingly quiet, cold ash, wild blueberry, dried peony and a trace of iron-tinged smoke, all held in careful suspension. On the palate, fine tannins grip with a starched, silky precision, giving the wine real density without any sense of heaviness. What anchors it all is a vivid, luminous core of freshness that keeps the fruit and earth in constant, elegant dialogue. Serene and understated, this is Blaufränkisch at its most refined, depth worn lightly.
