Lush and unabashedly hedonistic. Mango, passion fruit and sun-ripened yellow peach flood the palate with tropical generosity, the 40 g/L of residual sugar doing exactly what it promises. From iron-rich Jurassic limestone atop the Altenberg Grand Cru, a north-tilting site at 350 meters where Riesling and Gewurztraminer ripen slowly together, this has no business being as focused as it is. Yet a firm, slightly phenolic finish pulls everything into line, cutting through the richness with real authority.
