Bernhard Ott Grüner Veltliner Kirchthal 2021
Sourced from the highest-elevation site on the Wagram, picked at 350–370 meters. The nose is quietly alluring, candied herbs, a creamy green note, something between angelica and fresh fennel frond. On the palate, there's a cool-climate lightness to the fruit, juicy and smooth but never heavy, with the stone and soil of Kirchthal still tucked away beneath the surface, waiting to emerge with time. What holds it together is a fine-grained, almost imperceptible web of tannins that gives the wine genuine structure without sacrificing that characteristic creaminess. Bone-dry, with real depth. Drink now but better in 3–5 years.
