Terre Nere Etna Rosso Dagala di Bocca d'Orzo 2020

Burnt orange peel, incense smoke, crushed raspberry and a lift of cool mint, the nose is immediately engaging and keeps shifting in the glass. On the palate it's lithe and silky, with red cherry and licorice woven through an undercurrent of saline volcanic minerality. Lightly structured tannins let the wine breathe easily, while lavender, tart wild berry and a squeeze of citrus pith linger on a refreshing, mentholated close that leaves you reaching for another sip. Crowd-pleasing in character, but worth sitting on for a few years to let it find its footing.
