G.D. Vajra Barolo Coste di Rosé 2019

The most accessible of Vajra's single-vineyard Barolos in 2019, though don't expect the easy-drinking charm this site has shown in friendlier vintages. Crushed red berries, dried mint, spice-laden florals and earthy undertones emerge gradually with air. Firm acidity and a slightly edgy tannic backbone give the wine a wound-tight, nervous character that still needs time to settle, the pieces are all here, and the balance is sound, but patience is required.
