Frank Cornelissen Nerello Mascalese Munjebel 2019

Sweetly perfumed from the start, dried roses, black cherry, clove and a dusting of allspice. Silky and generous through the mid-palate, with ripe red fruit and spice riding over a firm bed of volcanic minerality. The tannins are present but finely woven, giving the wine a dry, composed structure rather than any sense of grip. Lavender and violet linger toward the finish, adding a floral lift to what is otherwise a warmly spiced close. A blend of Cornelissen's holdings across Etna's northern valley, the Munjebel is built for pleasure, and short-term cellaring will reward those with the patience to wait.
