François Raveneau Chablis Fôret 1er Cru 2019

Closed and a touch austere at first, this needs time in the glass to give anything up, flint, pressed white flower, and a faint chalky note emerge slowly with air. When it opens, the balance is excellent: taut and fresh, with a fine, precise line of acidity holding everything in place. Quince and a thread of tangerine drift in toward the finish, which is poised and clean. Lovely Chablis that rewards patience.
