Roagna Barbaresco 2018

Roagna's Asili Vecchie Viti is one of the stars of the 2018 lineup. Perfumed and expressive, sour cherry, cedarwood, dried rose petal and a trace of sweet spice. The tannins are polished to a fine silk, and the texture is almost weightless, yet there's real substance underneath: this isn't a delicate wine so much as a deeply graceful one. Luca Roagna has threaded the needle between richness and finesse with quiet precision. Give it three to five years and it will be superb.
