Paolo Scavino Barolo Bric del Fiasc 2018
Bric del Fiasc is typically Scavino's most powerful statement, but the 2018 arrives thin and listless, the fruit dried out rather than concentrated, with none of the tension and grip you expect from this site. Cedar and faint spice fill in where depth should be. It's no great shock, this sector of Castiglione Falletto struggled throughout the vintage, but it's still a disappointment from a vineyard of this pedigree. Drink sooner rather than later; this one is already moving toward its close.
Paolo Scavino
→A Castiglione Falletto estate synonymous with single-vineyard Barolo, Paolo Scavino built its reputation on Bric dël Fiasc before expanding across some of the Langhe's most sought-after crus. Now run by the second generation, the wines remain precise, structured, and worth seeking out.
