Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie 2018
Slow to reveal itself, the 2018 Madonna delle Grazie draws you in with dark red currant, dried rose petal, savory spice and a thread of sweet smoke that adds depth without weight. The texture is generous, almost plush, yet a chalky mineral grip arrives early and holds everything in check, preventing the wine from tipping into excess. Acidity runs clean and precise underneath, lending a sense of inner composure that's genuinely impressive. The tannins are fine and polished, and there's a violet and lavender lift on the finish that gives the wine a distinctly aromatic, almost perfumed close. Tasted across 48 hours, it never tired, if anything, it grew more expressive with time. One of the three finest wines from this vintage, and a testament to Alessandro Mori's mastery of this single vineyard. Drink 2028–2050.
