Günther Steinmetz Riesling Mülheimer Sonnenlay Kabinett 2018

Nine grams of total acidity and just 9% alcohol tell the story before you even taste it, this is Kabinett as it should be, all restraint and precision. Ripe pear and apple are laced with thyme and apple blossom, the sweetness kept firmly in check by the cool character of the Sonnenlay site. The texture is silken, almost creamy, yet the finish lifts with juicy lime and a clean thread of slate running underneath. Notably, it was harvested later than the Brauneberger Juffer from the same producer, yet it carries far more vitality, a testament to Mülheim's naturally fresher exposures. Drink now through 2030.
