Günther Steinmetz Riesling Brauneberger Juffer GB 2018
Reduction dominates the nose at first, smoke, struck flint, and wet stone, but apple, grapefruit, and a trace of lychee gradually surface through the mineral haze. At around 13% alcohol, the palate is fuller-bodied than you'd expect from the Mosel, with firm structure and fruit that holds its ground against the stony underpinning. The finish turns slightly austere, mineral and a touch drying, but there's a stubborn persistence to it that's hard to dismiss. Worth revisiting in a few years, though long-term aging potential feels uncertain.
