Paolo Bea Rosso de Veo 2017

Disarmingly fresh for Sagrantino country. Spiced citrus peel, dried rose, clove and medicinal black cherry open things up, with a thread of cocoa running underneath. Silky and juicy across the mid-palate, with ripe red fruits and an inner-floral lift that keeps everything animated and alive. The structure is light, chalky minerals linger quietly as the finish slowly fades, making this an unusually approachable expression of Rosso de Veo. Worth noting: 13% abv is a genuine achievement for the variety, and it shows in the wine's ease and freshness. Drink now through the near term, though its charm is hard to resist immediately.
