Mvemve Raats MR de Compostella 2017

A Dolomite granite-grown Bordeaux blend, 43% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 10% Malbec, 6% Petit Verdot, and one of Stellenbosch's most consistently fine wines. The nose is precise and lifted: red cherry, orange blossom, pressed rose petal and a faint trace of sous-bois. Medium-bodied on the palate, with supple tannins and a smooth, almost seamless texture. Not the most muscular vintage of MR de Compostella, but it has its own quiet authority, black pepper and clove surface on a finish that lingers with understated elegance. Give it three to four years in the cellar.
