Kai Schätzel Riesling Niersteiner Hipping Grosses Gewächs 2017

Struck flint and rain-soaked stone set a cool, focused tone on the nose before the wine pulls inward, taut and precise, with white peach, lime zest, and a chalky, saline backbone holding everything in check. There's real compression here, the acidity and modest alcohol wound tight around the fruit rather than letting it breathe freely. More restrained than the Ölberg, and clearly built for time. Give it five or more years to fully reveal what the Hipping can do.
