G.D. Vajra Barolo Coste di Rosé 2017

Crushed violets, sweet cherry, fresh mint and a dusting of crushed stone, the aromatics here are genuinely lifted and expressive. On the palate, the fruit is supple and open-handed, with tannins that are present but not yet fully settled, as you'd expect from a young Barolo. It lacks the plush sensuousness of the Albe and doesn't carry the gravitas of the Viole, but there's real charm and generosity in the glass. A touch of sage and dried herbs lingers on the close. Give it a few more years and it may well outperform this early impression.
