Sottimano Barbaresco Currà 2016

Floral and spiced from the first pour, dried rose, anise, and a lifted note of clove, with a core of dark cherry that gains depth as it opens. There's more oak presence here than elsewhere in the Sottimano range, a new-wood warmth that sits across the mid-palate, but this is a vineyard that has always needed time to fully absorb and integrate. Firm, fine-grained tannins and keen acidity keep things structured and honest. The Currà shifts constantly in the glass, never quite settling, which is part of its character, something taut and unresolved that rewards patience. One of Barbaresco's slowest maturers.
