Paolo Bea Rosso de Veo 2016

Dark and brooding from the first pour, baked black cherry, air-dried charcuterie, and grilled herbs rise from the glass with real intensity. A 58-day maceration on the skins has given this wine serious structural backbone, yet it moves toward something more composed on the tongue: polished red and black fruits riding a firm current of bright acidity, with grippy tannins that tighten steadily through the finish without ever turning harsh. There's a cool-toned, almost austere quality here that keeps the whole thing feeling fresh rather than heavy. Just a step below the Pagliaro in sheer force, the 2016 Rosso de Veo is a wine to bury in the cellar and rediscover in a decade.
