Oddero Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Mondoca 2016

Old-school Barolo, uncompromising and deeply traditional. Tar, dried rose, dark cherry, anise and worn leather, with a suggestion of plum and baking spice moving through the core. Dense, tannic and firmly structured, this is Nebbiolo built for the long haul, not for near-term pleasure. The grip is formidable but the fruit underneath is serious, and given time this will integrate into something genuinely compelling. Cellar through 2030 at minimum; best 2033–2045.
