F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Loibenberg 2016

White pepper announces itself immediately, cutting through aromas of snap pea, lentil, lime and ripe mango. On the palate, glycerol weight and generous tropical fruit give this a plush, seductive quality, it drinks with confidence and ease. What it offers in richness, though, it trades in intrigue; the Steinertal bottling from this producer pushes further, with more tension and complexity. A fine Loibenberg Smaragd, best enjoyed over the near term.
