Comando G Rozas 1er Cru Sierra de Gredos 2016

Pale, translucent ruby, this is Garnacha stripped back to its essentials. Dried cherry, raspberry and cola on the nose, with potpourri and warm spice drifting in quietly behind. The fruit is bright and sweetly framed, held in check by fine-grained tannins and a firm mineral spine, the signature of partially destemmed old vines aged a year in large French oak. Give it time in the glass; floral lift and greater depth emerge as it opens up. The finish is long and stony, with a taut, focused tension that speaks clearly of Sierra de Gredos granite.
