From the upper reaches of Mühlpoint, bordering Steinertal, this is a deeply savory Grüner Veltliner that earns your attention. Bittersweet florals, fennel, marjoram and roasted peanut on the nose, alongside the more expected green bean and lentil character. Rich and creamy in the mouth, yet animated by enough juiciness to keep things lively. The finish is the highlight, a complex, mouthwatering sweep of sweet-saline depth, shrimp shell umami and a faint curl of smoked pork. A serious, distinctly umami-driven Smaragd with plenty ahead of it.
