Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Frauenweingarten 2016

A slightly earthier expression of Frauenweingarten than usual, with green bean and beet root on the nose setting a more grounded tone. That said, the mid-palate is bright and buoyant, crab apple, zesty lime and a cucumber-like freshness keep things lively and crisp. Clean, persistent finish with good refreshing pull. Worth noting: Alzinger will relabel this wine as Dürnsteiner going forward, as Frauenweingarten has been clarified as a single vineyard in which he holds no vines, a change F.X. Pichler made from the 2016 vintage onward.
