Five years in barrel, bottled March 2023, López de Heredia operating on its own timeline, as ever. Vanilla, aged oak and a quiet tertiary warmth on the nose, with dark fruit gathering underneath. The 2015 vintage speaks clearly: riper and more generous than leaner years, with a lightly chalky grip on the finish that keeps the wine grounded. The Tempranillo core, filled out with Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo, is fleshy and open through the mid-palate, less austere than cooler vintages, less given to that intricate aromatic complexity the house is celebrated for. An accessible, well-made expression of the style rather than its most searching one. Drink 2026–2038.
