Ovello's characteristic tension and nervous energy come through clearly in the 2015, though the vintage pushes things toward a riper, more exotic register than this cru typically delivers. Dark cherry, dried rose, iron earth and a trace of anise, the aromatics are heady and generous. On the palate, the wine is full and slightly plush, with tannins that still carry some youthful grip and a warmth that sets it apart from more classically austere expressions of the vineyard. Not the purest Ovello on record, but genuinely well-made and compelling on its own terms. Give it another three to five years to settle, and it should reward the patience.
