Bright straw in the glass, the Quartz bottling sits at a higher register than its Granite sibling, lifted, a touch fruitier, with citrus, white pepper and spice on the nose. Stone fruit takes over on the palate, richer and more generous than the aromatics suggest, while a thread of peppery herb cuts through the mid-palate and keeps everything focused. Less plush than the Granite, but the spiced finish builds and holds. Give it air and it sharpens considerably, more penetrating, more steely, with real presence.
