Born from two parcels hit by botrytis in mid-October, extended hang-time, and a drying wind, this Beerenauslese arrives with saffron and candied lemon on the nose, opulent and immediately arresting. The texture is dense and glycerous, yet there's a surprising tartness to it, a zesty lemon acidity that cuts through the sweetness and keeps things from tipping into uncomplicated richness. Caramelized notes add further depth, though the components feel pulled in different directions at this stage. The finish is long but sweetness-forward, and true harmony is still a way off, understandable given it was still in tank at last tasting. Worth tracking closely as it knits together.
