Bernhard Ott Qvevre 2015
Bottled directly from the underground qvevre in July 2016, this skin-fermented Rosenberg Grüner Veltliner, possibly the final vintage of the project, opens with an almost extravagant burst of kirsch, almond, pistachio and Chartreuse-like herbal florals. Plush and silken in texture, the wine carries a persistent sweetness through the mid-palate, evoking cherry and caramelized parsnip alongside smoky, alkaline undercurrents. A sharp snap of mustard seed and white pepper arrives late, cutting through the richness and driving a salt-laced, mouthwatering finish that holds impressively long. A genuinely singular wine from Wagram, there's nothing else quite like it.
