Bernhard Ott Grüner Veltliner Rosenberg 2015
Ripe pear and strawberry open alongside snap pea and cucumber, a lush, almost Burgundian generosity that somehow stays vivid and crunchy through every sip. There's a textural richness here that never tips into heaviness; the fruit stays bright, with lemon zest, pear skin, and a pulsing mineral salinity keeping everything taut. The finish is where Rosenberg truly earns its reputation as Ott's signature cru: layered and sustained, cycling through stone, fresh herbs, and a deep savory undercurrent, carnal and maritime at once, that feels more at home in a cellar in Gevrey than on the Wagram. It raises the same question great Burgundy raises: how can a grape do this? Drink now through 2030.
