Alzinger Riesling Smaragd Liebenberg 2015

WineSaint
Alzinger attributes the relative breadth and softness of this Liebenberg to its deeper soils and loess influence, and you can taste exactly that. Mirabelle plum, white peach and orange blossom sit at the fore, cushioned by a round, generous texture that sets it apart from the leaner Rieslings in the 2015 lineup. There's still plenty of Wachau spine here, a firm mineral thread and bright acidity keep things honest, but the overall impression is plush and inviting rather than austere. A wine that drinks well now but has the structure to develop further.
