Wittmann Westhofener Aulerde Riesling Grosses Gewächs 2014

Grapefruit and crisp apple anchor a dense, expansive palate with real weight and grip. The finish is long and phenolically intense — impressive in its force, though undeniably severe at this stage. A side-by-side with the 2002 was instructive: that wine showed mossy, fusel aromas with wet stone character, earthy intrigue, and a lemon-edged but soft, fully settled finish — a glimpse of where the Aulerde eventually lands. Give this time.
