Paolo Scavino Barolo Bric del Fiasc 2014

A step above many of the 2014 Scavinos, but a fair distance from what Bric del Fiasc typically delivers in stronger vintages. Dried cherry, iron, faded rose and a touch of dried herbs, the hallmarks are there, but the depth and concentration this single-vineyard site usually commands feel muted. The tannins are present without being imposing, and the finish trails off before it builds into anything memorable. Best pulled from the cellar sooner rather than held in hope of further development.

Paolo Scavino

A Castiglione Falletto estate synonymous with single-vineyard Barolo, Paolo Scavino built its reputation on Bric dël Fiasc before expanding across some of the Langhe's most sought-after crus. Now run by the second generation, the wines remain precise, structured, and worth seeking out.
