Poured blind, this had enough Rhône-inflected weight and richness to pass for a southern French white, high praise for a Swartland Chenin. Waxy and generous in texture, with dried stone fruit, toasted almond, and a note of chestnut cream that lingers through the finish. There's real depth here, and the wine carries it with ease. A fine argument for old-vine Chenin Blanc as the Cape's most compelling white grape.
