Dark and brooding on the nose, boysenberry, crushed violet, smoked stone, and something almost iron-tinged beneath it all. Dense and concentrated on the palate, with dark cherry and licorice depth, yet the acidity keeps it taut and alive rather than heavy. The finish runs long, trailing spice and minerality well after the wine is gone. A serious expression of Côte du Py and a vintage that rewards patience, this has years, perhaps decades, ahead of it.
