Hugel Pinot Noir Grossi Laüe Clos du Pflostig 2014

Translucent garnet, barely there in the glass. The nose is cool and restrained, strawberry, a whisper of smoke, flinty minerality, everything you'd expect from limestone soils and a cool growing season. On the palate it's light-footed and bright, with supple tannins and a lively freshness that keeps things honest. A thread of pepper and wild gaminess surfaces toward the finish, adding welcome intrigue. Heroic sorting work rescued this from Drosophila damage, and the six months in pièce (20% new) left just the right imprint. Drink now.
