Dense and concentrated, with layers of blackberry, espresso and tobacco unfolding slowly. The structure is there. Firm tannins and good acidity. But something feels muted, as if the wine is holding back its natural exuberance. This reads more like solid, workmanlike Barolo than the site's usual electric intensity. Competent but not inspiring.
