Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Riserva Asili 2011

Barbaresco, Italy

WineSaint
Ripe red cherry, dried rose and a touch of roasted earth, with color that's already showing some evolution at the rim. The wine is open and generous from the start, supple tannins, modest structure, nothing here demanding patience. It drinks well enough, but there's a softness at the core where Giacosa's finest bottles carry visceral depth and sweetness. A sound wine from a warm vintage, though it lacks the concentration and inner tension of his Red Label releases. Drink now through 2027.
