Bernhard Ott Grüner Veltliner Rosenberg 2010

Honeydew, orange zest and chalky minerality on the nose, understated but focused. The fruit leans toward cool apricot rather than anything generous or plush, sharpened by white pepper and a wet-stone undercurrent. On the finish, pear and spice notes carry on with an almost weightless lift. It lacks the richness of the 2013, but that herbal edge gives the wine real identity. Tasted again after three years away, its development looks genuinely promising, this is heading somewhere worth following.
