Roberto Voerzio Barolo La Serra 2009

From Voerzio's highest-altitude vineyard, La Serra shows a more lifted, floral character than its Cerequio sibling, violet, raspberry, black cherry and brown spice rising from the glass with perfumed intensity. There's a high-toned vibrancy here, almost penetrating in its aromatic drive, yet the texture is fine and composed. Flavor concentration runs deep without ever feeling heavy, underpinned by a firm, freshening spine that keeps everything taut. The finish is long, suave, and beautifully fresh. A serious wine.
