The 2008 vintage has aged gracefully here, and this Cannubi S. Lorenzo-Ravera is proof. Linear and tightly focused, it carries the austerity of the year with quiet authority, dried rose, iron, tart cherry and a trace of tar. Firm tannins and bright acidity hold everything in precise alignment. If anything, it reads a touch more reserved than the Brunate, but that restraint gives it a classic Barolo bearing that's hard to argue with. Drinking beautifully now, with plenty of life ahead.
