Ripe black cherry and dark raspberry open things up, backed by vanilla, pipe tobacco and a curl of woodsmoke. Generous and approachable on the mid-palate, plush red and black fruit with a sweet edge, kept lively by soft, fresh acidity. Tannins are understated but present, arriving late with just enough structure to give the wine some backbone. The finish lingers with a pleasant smokiness. Decant and pour now.
