Oddero Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2005

Cherry, dried rose, iron and a touch of dried herbs, the aromatics are classic Rocche di Castiglione. But where the vineyard's reputation promises depth and grip working in harmony, the fruit here falls short of the tannins' demands. Mid-weight and focused, with decent length, yet the structure outpaces the concentration, leaving the finish dry and slightly austere rather than resolved.
